6th May. Kevin Penny was placed on report by referee Ben Thaler after Huddersfield full back Rod Jensen scored the final try of the first half. Wolves' winger slid in to challenge Jensen and appeared to catch the Huddersfield full back's face with his knee. Rugby Football League disciplinary chiefs have to decide whether to charge Penny and call him to a disciplinary hearing later this week. , nothing in it in my opinion. However the RFL have ruled the wingman has no case to answer

A better balanced squad is Cull's hope for the Tellins cup game, Simon Grix, Mike Cooper and Vinnie Anderson could all return. Chris Riley, a full back or winger, ended up being an unused substitute against Huddersfield Giants in Cardiff on Saturday because Cullen focused on rotating the forwards in that game. Cullen said: "We're looking forward to hopefully welcoming Vinnie Anderson back for the St Helens game, although Jon Clarke will be missing the second match of his two-match suspension. "Fingers crossed, we get Mike Cooper and Simon Grix through their reserves game against St Helens on Tuesday night. "And that would just put a bit more pressure on players and maybe give me a chance to re-balance that bench."

5th May.Paul Cullen said: "We're looking forward to hopefully welcoming Vinnie Anderson back for the St Helens game. "He banged his shoulder against St Helens in last week's league game. "He's been carrying an injury for quite a period and he just got one whack too many on it. "He was rested as a precaution against Huddersfield and hopefully he's now ready to train and prepare for the Saints game."

Huddersfield 34 Warrington 36. Warrington overturned a 16-point deficit to edge Huddersfield in an exciting opening to Millennium Magic. Michael Monaghan gave the Wolves an early lead but Michael Lawrence, Luke Robinson, Andy Raleigh and Rod Jensen put the Giants 22-6 up at half-time. But second-half tries from Stuart Reardon, Lee Briers and Andy Bracek (2) put the Wolves 30-22 ahead. John Skandalis pulled the Giants to within two points but Briers touched down to seal victory for Warrington.

Coach Paul Cullen: "It was a bit like King Canute, you can't stop the tide. "Huddersfield had all the ball and all the pressure, there was very little we could do and they went for the throat. "But half-time was at the right time for us. We'd have like to have gone in without conceding that try on the last play of the first half, usually that's the psychological killer blow. "We've been knocked about and took a real hiding, but we gave them one back. We wanted to give them a taste of what they gave us in the first half."

CHRIS Riley missed out on playing at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday. Paul Cullen explains "The 17 that we played against Huddersfield was the 17 fittest and healthiest that we had.It didn't give me the most balanced of benches that I would have liked and unfortunately Chris Riley didn't get any game time."But it literally wasn't a game for us to be swapping wingers and full backs around."We just had to keep rotating those big units in the middle."

2nd May. Speaking to the Warrington Guardian Ben Westwood gives his thoughts on the game against Huddersfield on Saturday at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff. He said: "I enjoyed Millennium Magic last year and I always enjoy going away for a few days with the boys and keeping close together. "Plus the venue is the Millennium Stadium. I don't know how many they're expecting to be there, maybe 20,000 on the first day. advertisement "We'll be on first so the pitch should be in mint condition, which will give us the chance for the backs to be running out wide." He added He said: "The stadium seems to be compact, the roof's on and all the atmosphere will all stay inside. "I don't know really notice the crowd to tell you the truth. "When you come out you notice the crowd but when you're playing it doesn't make it any difference whether there's 1,000 or 101,000 there!" 2:40am today
